Size

The size of an F1b Cavoodle depends upon the size of Poodle that the F1 Cavoodle was bred with as well as the size of Poodle the F1 Cavoodle was cross-backed to. It can be hard to predict the size of an F1b Cavoodle but they generally follow the same weight range of the F1 Cavoodle except with a slightly leaner and taller build.

F1b Teacup Cavoodle

Temperament

F1b Cavoodles have a very friendly and affectionate temperament. They love spending time with the family whether that is snuggling up on the couch to watch TV or participating in a game of sport. They are very cuddly but also very playful breed. F1b Cavoodles are quite intelligent due to their Poodle genes which means that they pick up new tricks and commands quickly. They are also very eager to impress their owners which motivates them to learn new things.

As F1b Cavoodles are more Poodle than Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, sometimes their temperament and personality is more like a Poodle than a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. However, there are many other factors that influence temperament besides genetics such as environment.

Shedding

Are F1b Cavoodles Hypoallergenic?

Yes, F1b Cavoodles are considered to be a hypoallergenic breed. In fact, they are even more hypoallergenic than F1 Cavoodles as they inherit their hypoallergenic nature from the Poodle. F1b Cavoodles are hypoallergenic because they only release a minimal amount of dander (dead skin cells) into their surroundings when they shed and they don’t shed much to start with.

Do F1b Cavoodles Shed?

F1b Cavoodles do not shed much. They are classified as a non to light shedding breed. In comparison to F1 Cavoodles, F1b Cavoodles shed even less. This is because F1b Cavoodles have a higher percentage of Poodle genes and Poodles hardly shed at all.

The best way to reduce the amount that your dog sheds is to regularly brush them. Slicker brushes are great for dogs with single coats and deshedding tools are great for dogs with double coats.

Coat Colours

Red F1b Cavoodle

Red F1b Cavoodles have a red coloured coat that can range from light to dark red. There are many names for Red F1b Cavoodles. They are sometimes called “Ruby Cavoodles” because the red shade of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is called “ruby”. Red Cavoodles are also commonly referred to as Fox Red F1b Cavoodles, Deep Red F1b Cavoodles or Dark Red F1b Cavoodles.

Apricot F1b Cavoodle

An Apricot F1b Cavoodle has a very light red coat that has a peachy tone. Apricot F1b Cavoodles are produced by breeding an Apricot Poodle with a Red or Apricot F1 Cavoodle. Some of the puppies in the litter will be apricot while others will be red.

Apricot F1b Cavoodles can fade if they inherit the “fading gene” from their Poodle parent. This is likely to happen as Apricot coloring comes from the Poodle side. Apricot Cavoodles usually fade to a cream or lighter Apricot shade and these changes will occur within the first two years of life.

Black F1b Cavoodle

There are two main types of Black Cavoodle: solid black and bi-colored black coats. Solid black as suggested by the name are fully black with no other colours. Bi-colored coats can be black with patches of other colours. Black colouring arises from recessive gene so not many F1b Cavoodles have this colouring. Bi-coloured black coats are more common than solid black coats.

Black & White F1b Cavoodle

Most Black and White F1b Cavoodles are parti-colored however some are considered to be mismarked with white. A Black and White Parti Cavoodle has a mainly white coat with black patches while a mismarked one has a small white patch on it’s paws or chest. Mismarked Black and White Cavoodles fall under the category of bi-colored coats.

Black & Tan F1b Cavoodle

Black and Tan F1b Cavoodles are also called Phantom Cavoodles as they have a two toned coat where the secondary color (tan) is in specific locations. Black & Tan F1b Cavoodles have tan patches on their muzzle, chin, throat, chest, legs, above their eyes and beneath their tail. These patches characterise the Black & Tan F1b Cavoodle as Phantom rather than Parti or Bi-Color.

F1b vs F2b Cavoodle

An F1b Cavoodle is the first back-cross generation of Cavoodle while an F2b Cavoodle is the second back-cross generation. An F2b Cavoodle is usually created by crossing an F2 Cavoodle with a purebred Poodle. On the other hand, an F1b Cavoodle is a cross between a F1 Cavoodle and a purebred Poodle. These F2b Cavoodles are 75% Poodle and 25% Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

On the other hand, F2b Cavoodles can be created by crossing an F1 Cavoodle with an F1b Cavoodle. These F2b Cavoodles are 62.5% Poodle and 37.5% Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. As there are two ways of creating an F2b Cavoodle, it is a good idea to ask your breeder how they do it so you have a better idea of your puppy’s genetic makeup.
